Dreams – it’s OK to have them

We all have dreams. I don’t mean the glimpses we get of the kind of strange adventures we may recall when we wake up. I mean the ideas we get when our mind wanders, the “if only’s”. We might have been told off at school for “day-dreaming” and possibly even now feel a pang of guilt when our mind drifts off from “reality”. Don’t!

Let’s talk about the benefits you can get from “positive day dreams”

Make a list of your dreams. An actual list of 100 would be good. You’ may find it easy to start with, but when it gets harder, don’t give up. Let your mind reign free. However, you do need to list what you want without any consideration of what you might need to get there.

Once you have your list, ask yourself “why it’s on the list”. Make sure your list really is a list of what you really want. For example if it’s happiness that you seek, don’t get sidetracked into listing the amount of money you want that you feel will deliver “happiness”.

It might help in compiling your list, to look at the specific areas of your life, for example:

• Home

• Career

• Family

• Friends

• Education & Learning

• Finances

• Health

• Spiritual

It’s natural for you to list what you want to get, but you also need to include what you want to give. And of course, you don’t have to wait until you have satisfied all your wants before you start giving!

Finally condense this list into some concise goals. What small steps can you take to move you closer to achieving these goals? What specific action can you take today that will move you closer?

With concerted effort each day, those dreams can soon become your reality.
